What is a Candle Bar?

A candle bar is a hands-on, guided creative experience where you choose your own fragrance, select a vessel, and pour your own 100% soy wax candle from start to finish. Think of it less like a class and more like a relaxed, creative afternoon — there's no experience needed, no right or wrong answers, and no rushing.

At Ritual + Root, our Candle Bar is open every Saturday from 11am to 3pm during Open Studio Hours. No reservation needed — just walk in, and we'll get you set up.

Step One: Choose Your Vessel

We carry a rotating selection of beautiful candle vessels — from classic to modern styles — in a range of sizes. Part of the fun is choosing the one that feels right for you. Whether you want something minimal and elegant or something with a little more personality, there's always something worth reaching for.

Step Two: Select Your Scent

This is where most people spend the most time — and for good reason. Our fragrance bar offers a curated selection of premium scents that you can smell, layer, and blend with guidance from our team.

Not sure where to start? Tell us what you're drawn to — something warm and cozy, fresh and clean, floral, earthy, or something unexpected — and we'll point you in the right direction. There are no wrong choices here, only ones that feel more like you.

Step Three: Pour & Finish

Once your fragrance is blended and your vessel is ready, it's time to pour. We'll walk you through the process step by step — from temperature to technique — so your candle sets up beautifully.

Then comes the waiting. Candles typically need about 60 minutes to set enough for safe travel, so we recommend using that time to browse our retail shelves — we carry crystals, tarot and oracle decks, journals, candles, and more — or heading out to grab lunch or a drink nearby and stopping back in to pick up your candle on your way out. It's a great excuse to explore the East End neighborhood while you wait!

Good to Know Before You Visit

• Walk-ins are welcome during Open Studio Hours every Saturday, 11am–3pm
• Plan for 1–2 hours from start to finish
• Groups are welcome — if you're coming with 5 or more people and want a guaranteed private space, a private candle making party is a great option
• No experience needed — we guide you through every step
• Your candle is yours to keep — a custom, hand-poured soy candle made exactly the way you want it
