About us

Hi!  We’re Misty and Kellie, co-founders of ritual + root.  We are both transplants to Holland, Michigan and met five years ago when we bonded over our experiences as small business owners.  We have since developed a close friendship based on sarcasm and a shared passion for the esoteric.

Ritual + root began with a dream (literally) and we decided to turn that dream into reality with ritual + root encompassing Kellie’s Reiki practice, Misty’s skincare business and included the addition of workshops on a range of topics and activities from energy work, crystals, herbal skincare, candle-making and more.

At its core, ritual + root is simply about wellness for mind, body, and soul. 

About Misty

Misty is our owner and co-founder.  She handles our social media and is the face behind the apothecary side of ritual + root.  She is originally from mid-Michigan and has lived in Holland since 2017.  She founded Wicked Soaps Co. after a soapmaking habit turned into a small side hustle.  In 2020, she turned that side hustle into her official full-time job and hasn’t looked back.

As the owner of Wicked Soaps Co., Misty has been formulating and creating skincare products for over a decade and brings her knowledge and experience to create an artisan line of all-natural apothecary, botanical skincare, ritual and candle goods rooted in earth and herbal lore and formulated with intention.

About Kellie

Kellie is our co-founder and a certified Reiki practitioner.  She is originally from the east side of the state and relocated to Holland in 2010.  As a self-employed professional photographer at Kellie J. Photography, she's the face behind our photographs and brings an eye for detail and event organization. 

Kellie brings the "ritual" to ritual + root.  Over the past few years, she's felt a pull to transition to a more fulfilling life path of self-awareness and spirituality and began exploring yoga, meditation, and intuitive development.
